Sometimes you might be interested to adopt but might not be ready yet, or cannot take that responsibility on at the moment. You can still help by becoming a virtual adopter.
What that means is that you can select one or more of our animals whom you would be helping a bit financially for a short or longer period of time on a monthly basis. That could help with their daily expenses such as food or medical related expenses in case they need further vaccines, medications or tests.
We also encourage you to come and visit the animals you support so that you can have a deeper connection with them as well as to see what your support is capable of doing.

Unfortunately, just like in other cities in Hungary, Kisvárda also has a lot of stray, homeless dogs and cats. Our main goal is to create a well managed animal shelter, where the physical and mental rehabilitation of stray and abandoned animals can take place, until suitable new owners are found for them.
In addition to work and family, we dedicate our free time to caring for and rescuing animals. We are currently keeping the animals in a temporary facility offered by the Municipality of Kisvárda, and are taking care of close to 400 dogs.
We are constantly waiting for animal lovers like us to apply for volunteer work. Our dogs always need a little petting and walking. You can help feed the animals and improve their conditions.
We also welcome the help of experienced professionals (mason, carpenter, welder, etc.) who would like to support our animals in need.
Open your home to foster an animal in need. If you might not be ready to adopt an animal as it is a long-term commitment, you could consider fostering one.
Many people don't realize that fostering an animal can actually save lives. You will help save the life of the pet you are temporarily taking into your home with you until we are able to find a forever home for him/her.
By stepping up and helping this animal, you will be making an amazing contribution to our rescue as we cannot do our work without the help of all the foster home volunteers.
Our organization will provide you with the food and medication (if needed) of that animal. If the animal needs medication, we would explain how it needs to be administered. Vet appointments could be arranged that either we take the animal to the vet office or if you wish to help us with that, you could take the animal to our vet. All medical bills, of course, would be covered by us. We would ask you to let us know immediately if you notice something with the animal in your care that might require medical attention.
It is important to make sure that if you do have your own animals while fostering, that they are up-to-date with their vaccines.
Would you like to become a foster family? Please just fill out this form and we will get back to you!

We take in animals from local and out of province animal rescues and shelters where they have difficulty finding a home. We pull animals from euthanasia lists where the animals have no other choice than us for getting a chance to live. We take in stray animals from the streets as there are so many that have been abandoned and are without a home.
The daily care of our animals as well as their medical expenses and our transportation costs can go pretty high in saving all of the animals in our care. So every dollar you donate will go a long way to help the animals in our care.
You may drop off items you would like to donate (blankets, beds for animals, food, toys, dog house, etc.) We can also arrange a pick up if you don't have the time or do not have a car to get those items to our rescue. Please visit our 'Items you may Donate' page for more information!
Sometimes you might not be in a position to adopt one of our animals, but you would still like to help with as much as you can. There is the opportunity to become a Virtual Adopter to support an animal in our care for a month or even more. If this sounds interesting to you, please contact us!
